Toronto has passed an “as of right” bylaw that allows for up to 4 apartments to be built in residential neighbourhoods – plus, you can add a garden suite for a total of 5 units.

Since the new bylaw was passed, I have noticed an influx of hastily assembled designs that are visually unappealing and functionally impractical. It is crucial to avoid haphazardly cramming four units into any house. Such an approach will likely do more harm than good to the overall project and neighbourhood.
